To advance global healthcare collaboration, Medsurge India, in partnership with Gleneagles Hospital, Mumbai, India, conducted a two-day medical camp at Mum’s Cave Hospital, Lusaka, Zambia, on May 5th and 6th, 2025.
The primary aim of this camp is to provide expert consultations around spine, orthopedic, and gastrointestinal cancer in the region. A large number of patients received valuable medical support through this camp.
It serves as a platform for Zambian patients to connect with renowned experts from India. Two leading medical professionals from Gleneagles Hospital, Mumbai, Dr. Harshal Bamb, an Orthopedic and Spine Surgeon, and Dr. Prashanth Rao, a GI Cancer Surgeon, led the initiative to address the healthcare gaps in specialized treatment.
Trusted Hands, Expert Care
Dr. Harshal Bamb provided consultations for spinal deformities, chronic back pain, complex orthopedic conditions, degenerative joint diseases, etc. More than 100 patients received satisfactory consultations from Dr. Bamb, many of whom were seeking surgical advice. By offering advanced orthopedic and spine care in the region with limited healthcare access or medical resources, he gave hope and healing to those who needed it the most.
Meanwhile, Dr. Prashanth Rao provided treatment plans for patients struggling with gastrointestinal cancers. He explained the importance of early detection and screening to start treatment without delay. Over 90 patients dealing with gastrointestinal cancers, including colorectal, pancreatic, and liver cancers, received valuable consultations.
Transforming Health with Compassionate and Inclusive Care
The camp allowed Zambian patients to consult with renowned Indian spine & ortho, and GI cancer specialists to understand the right course of care. The Medsurge team worked diligently during the camp to provide a streamlined and patient-friendly experience.
Some patients with complex medical conditions were referred for advanced care in India, with Medsurge managing everything for those requiring extended care.
Improving Access to Quality Healthcare
Such camp initiatives in a country like Zambia, where healthcare resources are limited, have proven to be beneficial and impactful. Patients expressed their gratitude and eagerly anticipate more such camps in the future with top Indian specialists.
Medsurge’s collaboration with leading hospitals for medical camps is about creating a healthier future, giving patients not just treatment but also a hope for a better tomorrow.
