Brief About Dr. Azhar Perwaiz
Dr. Azhar Perwaiz is a highly regarded Surgical Gastroenterologist with over 16 years of experience. He currently serves as the Associate Director at Medanta – The Medicity in Gurgaon, India. Dr. Perwaiz specializes in advanced 3D Laparoscopic Video Assisted Surgeries, including procedures such as Video Assisted Thoracoscopic Esophagectomy, Laparoscopic Colorectal Cancer Surgery, and Bariatric Surgery. With an impressive track record, he performs approximately 250 Gastrointestinal Surgeries per month and has established himself as one of the leading Pancreatic Surgeons in the country.
Dr. Perwaiz prioritizes evidence-based patient care and works closely with a dedicated team to ensure optimal outcomes. He has been recognized for his exceptional skills and dedication, receiving the Best DNB Resident Award from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in 2009. Dr. Perwaiz actively participates in conferences held nationwide and is a member of the Medical Council of India (MCI). He completed his MBBS from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University, in 2000, followed by an MS in General Surgery from the same institution in 2004.
He further pursued DNB in Surgical Gastroenterology under the National Board of Examination, New Delhi, in 2009. In 2017, Dr. Perwaiz obtained MNAMS from the National Academy of Medical Sciences and underwent training in Robotic Surgery at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi. His areas of special interest include Surgical Gastroenterology, Robotic Surgery, Advanced laparoscopic treatment for Esophageal Cancer, Advanced laparoscopic treatment for Gastric Cancer, Achlasia Cardia Surgery, and Reflux Disease (GERD) Surgery.
