How to Apply for a Medical Visa in UAE?

  • Acquiring a Medical Visa for Dubai: Your sponsor submits an appeal to the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai in order to get a patient entrance permit for Dubai.
  • Applying for Medical Visa for Abu Dhabi and other Emirates: If you will be receiving medical treatment in a hospital in Abu Dhabi or another of the UAE’s seven emirates, your sponsor will submit an application for a medical visa using the e-Chanel platforms of Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA).

What documents are required for a UAE Medical Visa?

The following documents are required for a Medical Treatment Visa in the UAE:

  • A photocopy of your current passport
  • Evidence of financial stability and a written letter from your hospital explaining the cause for your visit
  • Proof of comprehensive medical insurance that covers your whole stay in the UAE.

A UAE Patient Medical Visa’s Validity:

The user of a medical treatment visa (UAE Patient Entrance Permit) is allowed to stay in the country for up to 90 days from the date of entry. You must arrive in the UAE within 60 days of receiving your visa. UAE Patient Entrance Permits are divided into two categories:

Single-entry: Permits the holder to visit the UAE only once and stay for a maximum of 90 days.

Multiple – entry: It allows the visa holder to enter the UAE multiple times for up to 90 days.

Your sponsor can also apply to extend your UAE Patient Entry Permit once, and only if they can show documentation that you require for additional medical treatment (ie. a certified medical report).

What are the criteria to get a UAE Medical Attendant Visa?

A UAE Patient Companion Entrance Permit is required if you are accompanying a patient who requires medical care in the UAE. The hospital is also the one that makes an application for your entry permit. You and the patient must also go to the country together. Your sponsor must submit the following documents in order to apply for a UAE Patient Companion Entrance Permit:

  • A photocopy of your current passport is required.
  • Evidence of medical coverage
  • Financial solvency evidence

A UAE Patient Medical Attendant Visa’s Validity:

A Patient Companion Entry Permit has the same validity as a Medical Visa/Patient Entry Permit: it must be utilized within 60 days, and you can stay for up to 90 days after you enter the country.

The visa can be awarded for single or many entries, and it can only be renewed once, assuming the patient requires additional treatment and your presence in the nation.

Who Needs a Medical Treatment Visa or a Patient Companion Entry Permit in the UAE?

Because the UAE Medical Treatment Visa and the Patient Companion Visa are entrance permits rather than residence visas, nationals of selected countries are permitted to come visa-free or receive a visa on arrival. For limited periods of time, the UAE government enables nationals of the following countries to travel visa-free.

Visa on Arrival: You do not require a visa to visit the UAE if you are a citizen of one of the following countries or areas. Proceed to Immigration after disembarking at Abu Dhabi International Airport, where you will be given a visa on arrival.

Mexico’s nationals are allowed to visit the UEA without a visa for up to 180 days. Citizens of the following countries are allowed to visit the UAE without a visa for up to 90 days within a 180-day period:

  • Members of the European Union (excluding the UK and Ireland)
  • Honduras
  • Iceland
  • Liechtenstein
  • Montenegro
  • Montenegro
  • Russia
  • Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
  • Switzerland

Citizens of the following countries are allowed to visit the UAE without a visa for up to 90 days:

  • Argentina
  • Barbados
  • Brazil
  • Chile
  • Nauru
  • Paraguay
  • Serbia
  • Solomon Islands
  • Seychelles
  • Uruguay

Citizens of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, and Saudi Arabia, in addition to the countries/regions listed above, are eligible for a visa on arrival at Abu Dhabi International Airport. Travelers from countries other than those listed above must apply for a visa before visiting the UAE.
