Brief About Dr. Basanta Behera
Dr. Basanta Behera is a renowned Orthopaedic and Joint Replacement Surgeon based in Bhubaneswar, India. With an impressive career spanning over 44 years, he has established himself as a highly experienced and skilled professional in his field. Dr. Behera is affiliated with various prestigious medical societies, including the Odisha Orthopedic Association, the Bombay Orthopedic Association, the Indian Orthopedic Association, and the Indian Arthroplasty Association. He is also a member of the Orissa Council of Medical Registration and the Indian Medical Association.
After completing his MBBS from SCB Medical College, Dr. Behera pursued his MS in 1972 and also obtained DNB. His expertise lies in performing primary and revision joint surgeries of the hip and knee, ACL reconstruction, shoulder and rotator cuff surgeries, as well as treating complicated trauma and prosthesis for bone tumor patients. Dr. Behera has achieved several notable milestones throughout his career. He holds the distinction of being the first orthopedic professor to perform total knee replacement surgery, the first to conduct bilateral total knee replacement surgery, and the pioneer in establishing a dedicated ultramodern laminar airflow joint replacement OT at KIMS Odisha. Additionally, he was the first doctor to perform RPF High Flexed knee surgery in Odisha.
Apart from his clinical practice, Dr. Behera has contributed to the field of orthopedics through his research papers published in medical journals. His special interests include ACL reconstruction, shoulder and rotator cuff surgeries, complicated trauma cases, and prosthesis for bone tumor patients.
