Brief About Dr. Jayashree Todkar
Dr. Jayashree Todkar is an esteemed Laparoscopic Surgeon based in Mumbai, India. With over 20 years of experience, she specializes in Advanced Laparoscopic, Minimal Access, and Bariatric Surgery. Currently serving as the Director at Dr. L H Hiranandani Hospital, Mumbai, Dr. Todkar has been a visiting Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgeon since December 2008.
Dr. Todkar’s expertise extends beyond her work in Mumbai. She has completed her Fellowship in Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery from renowned institutions such as the Cleveland Clinic in the USA and Brazil. As the director of JT Obesity Solutions, she leads a high-volume unit dedicated to surgery for Obesity and Related diseases at Dr. L H Hiranandani Hospital, Powai, Mumbai.
Dr. Todkar’s achievements are noteworthy. She holds the distinction of being the First Female Bariatric Surgeon from India and has been recognized in the Limca Book of Records for performing 45 hernias in just 10 hours. Her surgical skills have been showcased on both national and international platforms, making her the only Indian Female surgeon to demonstrate live surgeries.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Todkar has contributed extensively to the field of Obesity and Metabolic Surgery. Her research and original articles have been published in various National and International Index Journals. She has been honored with prestigious awards such as the Yuva Bharati Award, Veer Shaiva Bhooshan Award, and Venutai Chavan Award.
Dr. Todkar is a sought-after faculty member at national and international conferences in surgical gastroenterology, bariatric, and metabolic surgery. She conducts training sessions for surgeons and multidisciplinary teams specializing in Bariatric surgery. Her contributions have been recognized globally, as she became the first Indian to receive the International Award at the world congress of ASMBS 2012 for a best poster presentation. She also received the world congress award for young scientist surgeon scholarship at IFSO 2011, focusing on Surgery for Obesity and Related diseases, from the International Federation for Surgery for Obesity and metabolic disorders.
