Dr. Muthu Kumar P is a distinguished senior nephrologist with over 15+ years of extensive experience in nephrology and kidney transplantation. His passion for nephrology and transplant medicine began during his undergraduate studies and significantly deepened throughout his MD training, culminating in a thesis focused on nephrology.
Throughout his career, Dr. Muthu Kumar P has successfully managed numerous high-risk kidney transplants, including both combined liver-kidney and pancreas-kidney transplants. His expertise in transplantation extends beyond kidney procedures to encompass the management of immunosuppression in hand and uterine transplants. Additionally, he possesses advanced skills in performing renal biopsies, inserting temporary dialysis catheters, and conducting Permcath insertions.
Dr. Muthu Kumar’s areas of special interest include intensive care nephrology, renal transplantation, glomerular diseases, nephropathology, and preventive nephrology. He has also completed a one-year certificate program in Nephropathology offered by the esteemed International Society of Nephrology (ISN).
