Dr. Parakh is known for establishing one of the country's first independent departments of vascular surgery at a city hospital. He has also been actively involved in teaching programs by the National Board of Examiners. Dr. Parakh completed his MBBS and MD from Maulana Azad Medical College New Delhi in 1981 and 1986 respectively, and obtained FRCS in general surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons, United Kingdom in 1987.

He is a Founder & Life Member of Vascular Society of India (VSI) since 1997, Founder & Executive Committee Member of Endovascular Intervention Society of India (EISI), and a Member of the European Society of Vascular Surgery (ESVS).
