Brief About Dr. Ravi Gopal Varma
Dr. Ravi Gopal Varma is a distinguished Neurosurgeon with over 22 years of successful practice. He specializes in Functional and Stereotactic Neurosurgery, performing surgeries for Movement Disorders, Chronic Pain, and Epilepsy. Dr. Varma covers all aspects of Neurosurgery, including Paediatric, Vascular, and Endoscopic Neurosurgery. He is credited with conducting the first successful DBS surgery for Neuroacanthosis in India and the third globally.
Dr. Ravi Varma initiated the MCh program to train Postgraduate doctors in Neurosurgery at the Institute of Neurosciences, MSRMC, Bangalore. Additionally, he introduced the DBS program for Parkinson’s disease treatment at NIMS, Hyderabad, KEM Hospital, Mumbai, and Apollo Hospital, Hyderabad.
He participated in a DBS workshop with advanced training in the Netherlands through a prestigious Indo-Canadian collaboration. Dr. Varma served as the Chairman of the International Conference on Epilepsy (EPICON) at M. S Ramaiah Memorial Hospital, Bangalore, on 11th and 12th November 2011. He is a member of esteemed associations like the Neurological Society of India, Bangalore Neurological Society, Indian Society for Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery (ISSFN), and Indian Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery. Dr. Varma’s special interests include Parkinson’s Disease, Movement Disorders, Chronic Pain, Paediatric Neurosurgery, Vascular Neurosurgery, and Endoscopic Neurosurgery.
