Brief About Dr. Shahid Merchant
Dr. Shahid Merchant, an interventional cardiologist based in Mumbai, India, boasts over 25 years of experience in the field. He has successfully performed more than 10,000 procedures in the cath lab. Dr. Merchant received his cardiology training from renowned experts such as Prof. Alain Cribier in France and Prof. Igor Palacios at the Massachusetts General Hospital & Harvard Medical School. His expertise lies in Carotid Stenting, Soluble Stents, Renal Angioplasty, and the treatment of multi-vessel Coronary Artery disease with Medicated Stents, complex intervention, and TAVI.
Dr. Merchant has presented papers at various national and international conferences across the globe. He is known for conducting live Angioplasty workshops and lectures in Interventional Cardiology worldwide.
Dr. Merchant has achieved several milestones, including being the first in the world to implant Soluble Stents below the knee in Diabetic foot cases. He was also among the first in India to initiate the Heart Failure Management Program with Innovative Devices and published a pilot study on follow-up with 75 heart failure patients. Dr. Merchant is a recipient of the prestigious fellowship from “The European Society of Cardiology.” His special interests include Carotid Stenting, Soluble Stents, Renal Angioplasty, treating multi-vessel Coronary Artery disease, and complex interventions.
