Brief About Dr. Utpal Shah
Dr. Utpal Shah is a highly skilled and experienced Cardiac Surgeon with over 28 years of practice in cardiac surgeries. He is currently serving as a Consultant at Apollo Hospitals in Ahmedabad, India. Dr. Shah holds professional memberships with prestigious organizations such as the General Medical Council in England, the Gujarat Medical Council in India, the Association of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeons of India, and the European Association of Cardiothoracic Surgery.
Dr. Shah’s educational background includes a graduation from NHL Municipal Medical College in Ahmedabad in 1983, followed by an MS in General Surgery from Gujarat University in 1987. He further pursued his M.Ch in Cardio-Thoracic Surgery from the School of Physiotherapy at BYL Nair hospital in Mumbai in 1990. To enhance his skills, Dr. Shah underwent super-speciality training for four years at the Royal College of Surgeons in the UK.
Throughout his career, Dr. Shah has worked at renowned medical centers such as Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, and Birmingham Heartlands Hospital, Birmingham. His expertise lies in various cardiac surgeries, including cardiac transplants, high-risk and Redo coronary bypass surgery, adult and pediatric cardiac surgery, thoracic and aortic dissection and aneurysm surgery. Additionally, Dr. Shah is proficient in performing bypass surgeries, heart valve surgeries, keyhole angioplasty, infarct exclusion surgery, and implants of Left ventricular assist device (LVAD), among other surgeries and treatments.
Dr. Shah has also contributed to the medical field by co-authoring research papers for medical journals.
