Prof. Semih Barlas is a highly regarded vascular surgeon in Istanbul, recognized for his exceptional skills. He performed Turkey’s first arrhythmia surgery and established the Pediatric Cardiovascular Surgery Department at the German Hospital. He has researched modern diagnostic and treatment methods for venous diseases across various European institutions. Additionally, he studied the diagnosis and treatment of varicose veins at the Morrison Vein Institute in the U.S. and New York University, collaborating with experts such as Nick Morrison, BB Lee, Lowell Kabnick, and Todd Berland.
Since 2008, Prof. Semih Barlas has concentrated on varicose vein treatments, contributing to the American Hospital and Med American Medical Center becoming two of Turkey’s busiest and most successful facilities in this specialty. During his fellowship in Pediatric Cardiac Surgery and Arrhythmia Surgery in the U.K., he trained under the guidance of Leslie Hamilton, B. Sethia, and Colin J. Hilton. He obtained a specialization in pediatric cardiovascular surgery with a minor in 2011.
