Dr. Kumar is a member of the Indian Council of Medical Research (Senior Research Fellow) and the Delhi Psychiatry Society.
He has presented several papers at national and international Psychology conferences, including those organized by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), the National Academy of Psychology (NAOP), Delhi University, Sambalpur University, Amity University, and Jamia Milia Islamia University. Dr. Kumar holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Psychology from Delhi and a Ph.D. in Psychology from UCMS (University of Delhi).
He has also studied Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Clinical Hypnotherapy, and has received training in Clinical hypnosis from Vimhans Hospital, Delhi, and the California Hypnosis Association (Accredited by the American Hypnosis Association) at AIIMS, New Delhi. Under the guidance of teachers such as His Holiness, the Dalai Lama, he has completed a specialized course on Mindfulness.
