Brief About Dr. (Col.) V K Gupta
Dr. (Col.) V K Gupta is a highly experienced Medical Gastroenterologist based in New Delhi, India. With 38 years of experience, he currently serves as the Director at Max Super Speciality Hospital in Shalimar Bagh, New Delhi.
Dr. Gupta has achieved remarkable milestones throughout his career. He holds the distinction of being the only physician from the Armed Forces to have a record in the Guinness Book of World Records. He served as the Consultant Physician on a Hospital on Wheels for the longest duration, from 15th August 1997 to 15th January 1998.
In addition, Dr. Gupta has performed the highest number of gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary endoscopic interventions in the Armed Forces to date. He has also successfully managed numerous cases of pancreatic fistulae through endoscopic intervention.
Dr. Gupta is known for his expertise in transnasal endoscopy and transnasal PEG procedures, which he performs routinely. He has also developed advanced techniques for esophageal stenting and achalasia dilatation without the use of fluoroscopy, ensuring precision in his procedures.
Furthermore, Dr. Gupta has played a significant role in training many Gastroenterologists in the Armed Forces to undertake endoscopic procedures. He has also been involved in formulating long-term and short-term strategic plans and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to provide standardized healthcare in the field of Gastroenterology.
As an adviser to the Director General of Armed Forces Medical Services from 2004 to 2009, Dr. Gupta has been instrumental in procuring gastroenterology-related equipment and resources for hospitals across the country.
Dr. Gupta’s interests lie in the treatment of hepatitis, liver transplant, gastric ulcer treatment, pancreatic disease, GI endoscopy, colonoscopy, ERCP treatment, endoscopic ultrasound, acidity, and constipation. He is an esteemed member of various associations, including the Indian Society of Gastroenterology (ISG), Indian National Association of Study of Liver (INASL), Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy of India (SGEI), Association of Physicians of India (API), and Indian Academy of Clinical Medicine (IACM).
