Brief About Dr. Deepak Govil
Dr. Deepak Govil is a renowned GI, General, and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgeon who has been in practise for over 34 years. He is skilled in procedures such as Portal Hypertension surgery, Splenectomy and Lieno-renal shunts, Ilio-anal Anastomosis with a pouch for Ulcerative colitis, Esophageal resection with Gastric pull up, Whipple’s Pancreato-Duodenectomy, and Hepaticojejunostomy for Biliary strictures and tumors obstructive jaundice and Hepaticojejun.
Furthermore, he also does surgery for Surgical Obstructive Jaundice, pancreatic disorders such as Acute and Chronic Pancreatitis, Pancreatic Malignancies, Upper and Lower GI Hemorrhage, and GI cancers such as Esophageal, Gastric, Colonic, and Rectal cancers. He has done 1000 surgeries relating to liver and gastrointestinal surgery, including laparoscopic surgery, during the course of his thirty-year career. He led the team that established the Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery at PSRI in New Delhi.
Moreover, he enjoys teaching and has previously worked as a Professor of Surgery at the GTB Hospital in New Delhi. On September 15, 2006, he took part in a liver transplantation surgery at Apollo Hospital. In January 2009, he received the President’s Appreciation Award at the IMA South Delhi Annual Convention. Until March 2009, he was the Secretary of the Apollo Hospital Consultant Forum, where he coordinated numerous programs. From 1999 to 2008, he was the convenor of the “Delhi GI Surgeons Club,” which held clinical meetings on a regular basis in several departments of surgical gastroenterology in Delhi. He also enjoys research and has papers published in prestigious journals. He’s also written book chapters.
