- Dr. Kewal Kishan Talwar is a Padma Bhushan Awardee and one of India’s most eminent Cardiologists, with over 40 years of experience.
- He has expertise in treating cardiac disease, such as cardiac arrhythmia, cardiac electrophysiology, and heart transplantation.
- He completed his MBBS from Punjab University in 1973, followed by an MD in Medicine from PGIMER, Chandigarh, in 1976.
- He later obtained his DM in Cardiology from PGIMER, Chandigarh, in 1989, and was conferred prestigious fellowships, including FAMS (Fellow, National Academy of Medical Sciences), FINA (Fellow, Indian National Science Academy), and FACC (Fellow, American College of Cardiology).
- He is credited with several historic milestones in Indian cardiology, including performing the first implantation of an Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) in South Asia and the introduction of Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy (CRT) in India, both achievements being recorded in the LIMCA Book of World Records (1997).
- A recipient of numerous national honors, Dr. Talwar has been awarded the Dr. B. C. Roy Award, India’s highest medical honor, and the Padma Bhushan (2006) by the Government of India for his outstanding contribution to medicine.
