Dr. Leyla Kandur obtained her medical degree from Istanbul University Medical School in 1989 and pursued further specialization in eye diseases at Cerrahpasa Medical Faculty in 1993. Her academic achievements include being recognized as the top student at the American Robert Gymnasium in 1983 and completing postdoctoral studies at Johns Hopkins University’s Wilmer Eye Institute. From 1993 to 1997, she focused on pre-segment surgery (cataract, cornea, and laser surgery) at the University of California, where she also presented at international conferences and published in renowned journals on behalf of the university. Dr. Leyla Kandur has played a significant role in training ophthalmologists and researchers in the United States and was honored as the best young researcher by Bausch & Lomb in 1997. Her exceptional medical achievements and research led to her selection as the first and only Turkish ophthalmologist for the Eyestar program by the University of California Jules Stein Eye Institute. Dr. Leyla Kandur is fluent in both German and English.
