Brief About Dr. (Lt. Gen) Prem P Varma
Dr. (Lt. Gen) Prem P Varma is a distinguished Nephrologist based in New Delhi, India, with an extensive experience of over 28 years. He has received prestigious awards such as the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Sena Medal, and Vishisht Seva Medal from the President of India. In 2014, he was honored with the ‘NBE Alumnus Award’ for his remarkable contributions to the Nephrology Community. Dr. Varma has performed more than 1000 renal transplants and over 1000 kidney biopsies.
He retired from the Indian Army after 27 years of service, achieving the rank of Lt General. From 2014 to 2015, he served as the Honorary Surgeon to the President of India. Dr. Varma has authored over 60 articles, contributed to 11 chapters in textbooks, and delivered 200 presentations.
He completed fellowships at Massachusetts General Hospital (Boston), Emory Hospital (Atlanta), and Toronto General Hospital (Toronto). His special interests include Laparoscopic Nephrectomy, Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) treatment, Kidney Failure Treatment, Kidney Dialysis, Ureteroscopy (URS), Kidney Stone Treatment, Hemodialysis, Hemodiafiltration (HDF), Renal (Kidney) Surgery, and Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy.
