He earned an MBBS from Madras Medical College and an MD in General Medicine from Stanley Medical College, Government Stanley Hospital in Chennai, India. Additionally, he was an assistant professor of cardiology at Sri Ramachandra Medical College in Chennai, India, and a consultant cardiologist in tertiary care hospitals in the Middle East, including those in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Muscat.
