Brief About Dr. Mukesh Goel
Dr. Mukesh Goel is a well-known cardiothoracic surgeon who has been in practice for over 15 years. Additionally, he has also performed over 2200 cardiac operations to date. He has extensive experience with high-risk CABG (patients with very poor heart function, obese women, renal failure patients including those on dialysis, the elderly and those with COPD), Aortic dissection and aneurysm surgery with and without valve-sparing, Valve repair for ischemic and degenerative mitral regurgitation and Bilateral IMA grafting. He had successfully repaired a descending thoracic aortic aneurysm/dissection using a hybrid technique.
He is now working on new treatments for heart failure, such as mechanical assist devices, a hybrid approach to aortic aneurysms and dissections, valve-sparing aortic root replacement, and cardiac transplantation.
In February 2010, he created a Cardiovascular Surgery Unit as the principal cardiovascular surgeon at the Asian Institute of Medical Sciences in Faridabad. At the Asian Institute of Medical Sciences, he also began a program in minimally invasive techniques in cardiac surgery and the repair of aortic dissections (aneurysms). In two years, he founded the Cardiac Surgery Unit (a Medanta subsidiary) at the Delhi Heart Institute in Bathinda (Punjab).In 2010, he attended a workshop in minimally invasive mitral valve replacement in Lyon, and in 2014, he attended an Oxford Masterclass in total arterial bypass grafting.
He serves on Apollo Hospital’s institutional quality control, infection control, and blood transfusion committees. In 1992 and 1997, he received his MBBS and MS in General Surgery from the PT. B.D. Sharma Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences in Rohtak (Haryana). In 2001, he completed his M.Ch. in Cardio-Thoracic Surgery at Maulana Azad Medical College in New Delhi. Under the supervision of Dr. Naresh Tehran, he completed a three-year cardiovascular surgery residency at AIIMS and GB Pant Hospital in Delhi.He received training in Minimally Invasive Valve Repair/ Replacement – France, 2010, Minimally Invasive Valve Repair/ Replacement – USA, 2010, and Minimally Invasive Valve Repair/ Replacement – Canada, 2010.
