His expertise is in the treatment of Esophageal Lung, Esophageal wall Mediastinal pediatric tumor and Thoracoscopy/Robotic Surgery. The doctor was the very first to pioneer Thoracoscopic Surgery at the Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai. After having completed the MBBS in Karnataka Medical College, he completed his MS from Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai and was awarded higher degrees like FICS, DHA, and FAIS. Dr. Deshpande has received numerous distinctions and awards for his work in medicine. He was awarded the Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian award given by the Government of India, in 2014.
