Sickle cell anemia is one of the most prevalent genetic blood disorders among children in Nigeria. To address this issue, Medsurge India once again took a proactive step by organizing a specialized medical awareness and consultation camp in Nigeria, held in Abuja (23rd Oct), Port Harcourt (24th Oct), and Lagos (25th Oct, 2025). Since 2014, Medsurge India has been the first medical tourism company to take such a significant initiative by organizing dedicated medical camps for sickle cell anemia patients in Nigeria.
The camp was led by Dr. Vikas Dua, a renowned Pediatric Hematologist and Bone Marrow Transplant Specialist from Fortis Hospital, Gurgaon, India. This medical camp focused not only on offering expert consultations but also on spreading awareness about sickle cell anemia. The initiative aimed to educate patients and families about early diagnosis, prevention, donor identification, HLA typing test, proper care, cost, and effective management.
During the three-day camp, more than 100 patients received satisfactory consultations from the specialist.
