Dr. Merican obtained his MBBS degree from the University Malaya, Singapore in 1958. He furthered his expertise by completing fellowships from The Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh in 1964 and The Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons, Glasgow in 1978.
