Aravind Eye Hospital Madurai was established in 1976 as an 11-bed hospital, this hospital has now grown to accommodate 350 paying patients and 950 free patients. It has handled 1,354,766 outpatient visits and performed 1,81,672 surgeries in 2017-18 FY. Arvind Eye Hospital has won many awards, including the Gates Award for Global Health, 2008 and Conrad N. Hilton Humanitarian Prize, 2010.
