Chung-Ang University Hospital, formerly known as Sungshim Hospital and located in Pil-dong, was established in 1968. It relocated to Heukseok-dong in 2004. It's a multispecialty hospital with 31 clinical divisions and five specialist centres. The Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service rated it first in the overall "Patient Evaluation of Medical Service Experience" survey (HIRAS). The Ministry of Justice listed the hospital as a "Excellent Medical Tourism Institution" for the second year in a row in 2016.
In the 2015 Medical Korea Awards, it was named "Best International Healthcare Team."BKorea Health Industry Awards presented the same with the "Best Institution in the Medical Tourism Sector" and the "Grand Prize of Customer Satisfaction Excellence." For the seventh year in a row, it was named the Best Emergency Medical Center. The Hospital has been delivering international medical services since Fall 2011. It officially established an International Health Center in 2014 to provide personal and personalised care for international patients.
