Cameroon Patient Testimonial For the Treatment of Hydronephrosis
Nelson Atoneh Shu, a 42-year-old Cameroonian male. In 2017, He experienced right flank back pain and was later diagnosed with right hydronephrosis, for which he underwent surgery that same year. Five years later, in June 2022, He felt a similar pain and was still diagnosed with recurrent right hydronephrosis and again operated on.
He mentioned, When I had my second surgical procedure in June 2022 for the same right hydronephrosis, I asked the doctor what was causing the recurring blockage, and he explained that it was almost certainly a genetic condition with a 10% probability of recurrence. This similar kidney remained clogged less than three months following the surgery.
The doctor then suggested that we can fix a stent there and monitor it for up to 6 months. That was completed in September of the same year, but I was still experiencing severe pains. The specialists here continue to say that if the feeling of pain persists, they will perform a surgical procedure.
My challenge today is determining the real root cause of this and devising a long-term cure. The radiologist told me last time when I did an ultrasound that he wasn’t convinced the stern was working properly. But the Urologist says we won’t be able to use it for another three months or more, and the pain is getting worse by the day. Second, here in Cameroon, doctors do open surgical procedures, which need extensively long recovery times as well as an immense amount of pain and challenges. For example, my stomach now has a strange peculiar shape due to the manner in which the operation was performed.
In addition, I am currently receiving treatment for prostate inflammation, which I feel is the result of the trauma of inserting and removing the stent. I’ve been in the hospital four times for the management of the same kidney disease, with no solution in sight.
So I started surfing on the internet and discovered the Medsurge India website. I thoroughly review the webpages and email them about my case story.
I also wrote them “Please advise on how I may get a permanent solution to this since I have lately begun feeling a similar pain on the left flank, though the doctors here believe it is transfer pain from the right flank, but I am scared that both kidneys will eventually become blocked and become more difficult to manage. Please pray the hospital should be at a moderate cost”
The case manager responded quickly to my email and scheduled a video consultation with Dr. Anil Mandhani (Urologist) from Fortis Hospital in Gurgaon. Doctor recommended that I fly to India and we can start the Laparoscopic Robotic Pyeloplasty Surgery immediately. Then I packed my bags and flew to India. The MedsurgeIndia team member received me from the airport and directly took me to hospital for my first physical consultation. The doctor and his team described to me the details and pre-surgical instructions.
Next day, after lunch the surgery begins and takes around 3-4 hours. I shifted to a room under observation and stayed in the hospital for a couple of nights and then was relieved. It was a day when I did not feel any pain for long hours.
Thanks, Medsurge India for their support and help. I flew back to Cameroon happy and healthy after spending a good time in India.
