Brief About Dr. Sahana Shankar
Dr. Sahana Shankar is a highly experienced pediatric gastroenterologist and hepatologist based in Bangalore, India. With over 10 years of expertise in her field, she specializes in various areas including neonatal and infantile jaundice, chronic liver failure, liver and multi-visceral transplantation, chronic diarrhea, inflammatory bowel disease, and autoimmune and other chronic liver diseases.
Dr. Shankar is a dedicated professional and a life member of both the Indian Academy of Pediatrics and the Indian Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Clinical Nutrition. She received her training in pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology, and clinical nutrition at the prestigious Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, Australia. During her training, she actively participated in a multidisciplinary team and successfully performed 200 liver transplants in children.
Prior to her specialization, Dr. Shankar completed her MBBS from JSS Medical College and Hospital in Mysore, followed by an MD in Pediatrics from Seth G.S. Medical College and King Edward Memorial Hospital in Mumbai. Her dedication and exceptional skills have been recognized through various awards and scholarships, including the European Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Clinical Nutrition (ESPGHAN) Young Investigator Award in 2018 in Geneva, Switzerland.
