Dr. Samir Shah is the Head of the Department of Hepatology, Institute of Liver Disease, HPB Surgery, and Transplant Surgery at the Institute of Liver Disease. His experience in gastroenterology, HPB surgery, and translatology is extensive, spanning more than 33 years. In addition, Dr. Samir Shah has been at the forefront of efforts to expand liver transplantation in India.

In Mumbai, Dr. Samir Shah was personally involved in the first successful liver transplant. Dr. Samir Shah was the first Secretary of the Indian Association for the Study of the Liver from 1995 to 1997, and a member of the Asian Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver’s International Liaison Committee (APASL). Furthermore, as a result of his participation in various worldwide clinical trials on new drug development, he has presented at international gatherings and published in peer-reviewed journals. He is the first Trustee and Hon. Secretary of the National Liver Foundation.
