Brief About Dr. GS Wander
Dr. GS Wander is an Interventional Cardiologist based in Ludhiana, India, with over 29 years of experience. He is recognized as one of the pioneering cardiologists in North India for initiating specialized cardiac services in the region. Dr. Wander has an extensive publication record, with 106 papers published in prestigious international journals such as The Lancet, Nature Genetics, Journal of American College of Cardiology, American Journal of Cardiology, British Heart Journal, and Japanese Heart Journal.
Throughout his career, he has received several awards, including the Sujoy B. Roy Fellowship from AIIMS, New Delhi in 1993, the Dr. K. Sharan Cardiology Excellence award from IMA India in 2004, the Dr. Edith Brown Memorial Award for Health and Medical Science from the Sabhyacharak Society, and the Dr. B.C Roy National Award for the year 2006 for Development of Specialties from Smt. Pratibha Patil.
Dr. Wander has actively participated in various CME programs and attended the American College of Cardiology Conference in Atlanta in 1991 and 2000 as a Heartbeat International Fellow. He serves as the Medical Director of the Ludhiana Rotary Pacemaker Bank and established the cardiology unit at Dayanand Medical College & Hospital, Ludhiana in 1988, introducing procedures such as Treadmill Testing, Color Doppler Echocardiography, Stress Echocardiography, and Temporary and Permanent Pacemaker Implantation.
Dr. Wander played a pivotal role in the planning, development, and establishment of the Hero DMC Heart Institute in Ludhiana in 2001, a tertiary cardiac care center with 170 bedded cardiac facility, two cath labs, and five operating rooms. His special interests include Cardiology, Chest, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Nephrology, Neurology, Oncology, Rheumatology, and Immunology.
