Tanzanian Patient Testimonial – Knee Correction Surgery
“From my first phone call to my last visit, the Medsurge India team was courteous, efficient, skilled, and pleasant. I’d like to thank the team and Dr. Jangid for giving me a new healthy life in which I can walk without using any fixers.”
Hello, my name is Enzi, at the age of 36, I was involved in a major car accident in which my left knee was severely injured and I was unable to bend my knee as a result of the injury. The pain and lack of mobility worsened each year until my 42nd birthday when I could barely walk two blocks without stopping to rest and couldn’t bend my knee at all. Ibuprofen and Darvocet were required to get me through a six-hour day in at least bearable pain. I couldn’t walk because of the regular pain in my left knee, which was getting worse. I didn’t have many options. I thought I’d be on painkillers for the rest of my life until my local Tanzanian surgeon explained the positive outcomes of the surgical procedure to add a “fixator”.
Because I didn’t want to endure any more pain, I chose to have a fixator placed in my knee. I was able to sit with assistance after the surgery thanks to the fixator, which kept my leg straight the entire day. The initial experience was positive, and the pain was also diminished. But after a while, my left leg started to become less mobile, and all of my muscles became stiff. The situation was getting worse day by day.
After being told by two orthopedic doctors that I needed total knee replacements, my wife (Stellah) searched for alternatives to the full knee replacement. She found Medsurge India on the internet.
Stellah spoke with one of their query managers right away on the phone call. He requested all of my reports and set up a quick video consultation with orthopedic surgeon Dr. Subhash Jangid from Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurugram. The doctor suggested an alternative knee correction surgery (quadricepsplasty) after reviewing my reports. He said that after my knee correction surgery, I won’t need a fixator any longer and will be able to fully bend the knee without any external equipment.
We planned to travel to India for the procedure, and Stellah and I talked to the whole family about the entire plan. At first, everyone was terrified or completely baffled about the choice, but we were able to persuade everyone and set out for India. When we arrived at the Indian airport, a member of the Medsurge team immediately picked us up, drove us to our booked apartment, and assisted with our immediate transition. The man gave me a lot of assistance in comfortably settling down. The following day, we proceed to Fortis Hospital.
On my first visit with Dr. Subhash Jangid, his calm and confident behavior immediately quashed any concerns we had. Also, on the day of surgery, Dr. Jangid came over to initiate the leg to be operated on and stated that he would do everything humanly possible to make me better. His words brought me great comfort and reassurance that everything would be fine. After my surgery was finished and the anesthesia began to wear off. Within three days of being moved to the recovery room, my recovery was going well. The medical staff assisted me in moving around the room freely and like even if magic happened, I was able to bend my knee. As a result of this surgery, my wood-like stiffed leg is now a movable muscle organ.
My family and friends were amazed by my quick recovery; it was truly spectacular. Indeed, they all told me that if they ever needed an orthopedist, Dr. Jangid would be at the top of their list.
I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the entire team of MedsurgeIndia and to Dr. Subhash Jangid for transforming my life. I no longer need a metallic fixator and can stroll through a park like a normal person.
